    WORKS IN
    CLAUDEany setup

Pure-LLM skill. No MCP, no paid tool required. Works on Claude.ai web, desktop and Claude Code.

    WORKS BEST WITH
    • Web Search (built-in)optional

fetches home, /pricing, /about, blog and LinkedIn — strongly recommended; without it the teardown is guesswork

    What this skill does

A public teardown of a competitor across 5 dimensions: positioning, pricing, claims, the segment they target and obvious gaps. Uses only public sources (site, LinkedIn, social), no paid tools like SimilarWeb or Crunchbase.

    The 5 dimensions

    • Positioning: who it is for, in 1 sentence, and what they promise
    • Pricing: full table, plans, discounts, claims
    • Claims: what the landing page says vs what they deliver
    • Segment targeted: ads, content, the persona in their testimonials
    • Gaps: what does NOT exist in their offer

    When to use

    • Before locking in your own positioning
    • To answer the investor's 'who is your biggest competitor?'
    • When you lose a deal to them and want to understand why

    How it works

    1. You give it the competitor's URL
    2. The skill reads the site, /pricing, /about, blog, and the company LinkedIn
    3. Extracts literal claims (verbatim quotes)
    4. Compares them to what is reachable in the product (demo screenshots, free tier)
    5. Identifies 3 gaps your offer can attack
    6. Returns 1 structured markdown page

    Output example

    Competitor Teardown — Acme.io

    Positioning
"AI workspace for small teams". For 5-50 person teams already on
Notion/Slack that want to be 'AI-first'.

    Pricing
    Free | Pro $19/u/m | Business $39/u/m | Enterprise (call)
20% annual discount. Claim: "less than 2 coffees a day".

    Claims on the landing page
    - "10x productivity" (no benchmark linked)
    - "trusted by 1000+ teams" (no logo wall, only 4 testimonials)
    - "GDPR + SOC2" (badges with no link to the report)

    Segment targeted
LinkedIn ads: early-stage founders, SaaS, US/EU
    Testimonials: 2 from YC, 2 from Series B scale-ups
Blog: SEO on "alternative to Notion", "AI for startups"

    Gaps you can attack
    1. No Portuguese / Latin America support (BR opportunity)
    2. Per-seat pricing punishes growing teams (you: per-team)
    3. No Linear integration (you: already have it)

    Pre-reqs

None required. Web Search enabled in Claude makes the teardown much richer (it can read the real site instead of inferring).
